The Naturist Society:
June 17th-19th we went to the yearly Naturist Society (TNS) Eastern Gathering that occurred at a big campground in northern PA. It was our first time attending this event as well as a couple hundred folks, and we had a pretty good time.
This week long assembly consists of group discussions and seminars on various naturist / nudist subjects and in addition enjoyable leisure activities like the dances at night, a tye-dying session, and swimming and kayaking at the enormous lake. The food was acceptable and served 3 times/day in a big hall. We tented again, but there are also cottages. On our first night, there was a talent show of varied acts, of which my favorite was the two-man duet with “Enrique Iglesias” and “Whitney Houston.” This is followed by Oneg Shabat (the Jewish welcoming service of the Sabbath) with a group of people and a pajama-themed dance party. (I believed the Jewish Sabbath thing was really arbitrary, though it is a Jewish camp.)
On Saturday night it was a Halloween motif dance with some entertaining costumes. All in all there really few folks in their 20s/30s, but this really is no occasion made for young folks. (Young people do not need a workshop on how to use http://nudists-young.org/contri/she-booked-a-room-on-the-all-nude-side-of-the-resort/ for example.)
Yet this really is not to say there weren’t lots of interesting folks to meet and speak to, such as those who are involved in the Naturist Action Committee, and we weren’t disappointed with the NAC’s seminars and others about naturism. We attended talks about children and naturism, “making waves” with NAC and on the future of naturism. Questions of the function of young people in naturism came up. ie, Why do young folks seem to be missing in the movement? How do we reach out to them? These are questions we have also had to ask ourselves!
If you have been a naturist for a long time, do you think young folks are missing? It was said that even those who are introduced to naturism when they’re young seem to take a rest beginning with http://modestperson.com/views/not-having-to-wear-those-annoying-bikinis-or-swimsuits.php up to their 30s, and then some end up going back to it (at least we hope they do.) But are there plenty of young naturists out there? Does anyone know of any school besides Yale that has or had nonsexual naked parties? I am wondering if naturism has any kind of presence at many faculties
